Due for release mid-May but...

Did Dan steal Mick And Dick's idea?

An English judge, hearing claims by two historians that The Da Vinci Code author Dan Brown stole their ideas, has adjourned the case to give him time to read the books in more detail.
Judge Peter Smith will restart proceedings brought by Michael Baigent and Richard Leigh next Tuesday once he has read the novel and the 1982 publication they wrote with Henry Lincoln, The Holy Blood and the Holy Grail.

It has been suggested Dan Brown, author of The Da Vinci Code is in breach of copyright and a lawsuit has been filed by Michael Baigent and Richard Leight who wrote The Holy Blood and the Holy Grail (Random House) against Random House, publisher for the three authors of the two books. In Britains High Court, Mick and Dick are accusing Dan of taking material for his best selling novel (sold over 36 million copies and is now a major motion picture). The movie version starring Tom Hanks is scheduled for release 19 May this year but that could be delayed if the parties against Dan get a court injunction barring use of disputed material.

The book makes one think about religious beliefs, about the basis of Catholisism and Christianity. It doesn't matter whether you are a Christian or not. Has someone been lying to us all this time, and if so, how would that affect the world's religions?

Is Jesus, in fact, the Son of God? Was Christ crucified on the cross and rise from the grave three days later? Did Jesus marry Mary Magdalene, have children and continue to live the good life after his release from a Roman prison?

I can feel an arguement coming on. If in fact Jesus did get married then his blood line survives to this day.

Of course the notion has upset the Vatican, as, if this is the case, then the question of Jesus dying for our sins and the ascension to heaven three days after his removal from the cross, would change the written word and make many question their beliefs.

So it looks like English Judge Peter Smith will burn the midnight oil and will start all over again with the proceedings brought on by Mick and Dick as he hasn’t yet read The Da Vinci Code or The Holy Blood and the Holy Grail (Random House).

Geeeeez, this is really going to throw a spanner in the works. Look, I can swing either way, did or didn’t, is or isn't, was or wasn't, doesn’t matter! Posted by Picasa
