Cate Blanchett, a real political sweetheart

Academy Award recipient Cate Blanchett, who has starred in so many films including The Aviator, Babel, Elizabeth, Notes On A Scandal and The Good German, just to mention a few of her highly acclaimed films has gone a little political.

Cate has suggested that Australia is in America’s back pocket to the point of embarrassment.
Ms Blanchett went on to state that Australia needs to claim its own individualism, and reconnect to the world in a better way.

She said, "We've really isolated ourselves from Asia. "I think that's politically and culturally very foolish. The problem with Australia is that it's uranium and coal (mineral) rich, so whoever gets in (the Coalition or the Labour Party) needs to be really responsible."

Cate Blanchett and her husband, Andrew Upton is in London this week for the premiere of her latest film, Elizabeth the Golden Age. The thing about these comments is, they are spot on correct. I don’t care what that dickhead Alexander Downer (his last name certainly suits his personality) says. We need to represent our credentials to the leaders of Southeast Asia. It is these countries that are buying most of our mineral resources including gas, coal, and uranium.

We obviously need to keep the United States as an ally but we do need to forge closer links to Asian. We are a part of Asia (Australasia). Cate says we have isolated ourselves from our closest neighbours and that we have been politically and culturally embarrassed.

Cates comments were not welcomed by either party, Liberal or Labour, which feels her comments are a real shame and that she misunderstands. Both parties agree Australia’s national defence strategy and security is reliant on good relations with America.
in my opinion that doesn't mean we have to kiss thier ass.

Hey, all you politicians, of any political persuasion, Cate’s comments are spot on. Perhaps, if you have plans for Australia to become the 52nd state of the United States, you should give us warning now so we can start packing and make arrangements to find another place to live.
Of course you can reconsider your relationship with the U.S., whose economy is headed for the toilet, whose dollar is on critical melt down, who are war mongers and bullies, and are the most unwanted, untrustworthy people as friends, of anyone in the world.
